Science in Motion — Medical Animation Fundamentals
Last updated: August 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Science in Motion ("Science in Motion," "we," "us," or "our"), operated by Guillermo Miranda, collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you visit medicalanimationcourse.com, use our course site hosted on Thinkific, subscribe to our emails, or otherwise interact with our services (together, the "Services").
We act as the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. For questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at the address in Section 12.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account and enrollment data: name, email address, password (stored by our course platform, not by us directly), and country/region.
- Purchase data: items purchased, price paid, currency, discount codes used, and billing details. We do not receive or store your full payment card number — payments are processed by our payment processors (see Section 4).
- Communications: emails you send us, replies to our newsletters, survey and feedback responses, testimonials, and support requests.
- Lead magnet and newsletter signups: name (optional) and email address.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data: course progress, lessons viewed, login timestamps, and completion data (collected by our course platform).
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring pages, and approximate location derived from IP, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 6).
- Email engagement data: opens, clicks, and delivery status of emails we send (collected by our email provider).
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, maintain, and secure your course access and account;
- Process payments, issue receipts, and handle refunds where applicable;
- Deliver the lead magnet, newsletters, educational emails, and marketing communications you signed up for;
- Respond to your questions and provide student support;
- Analyze usage of our website and emails to improve our content and services;
- Prevent fraud, credential sharing, and abuse of the Services;
- Comply with legal obligations, including tax and accounting requirements;
- Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
3. Legal Bases (EU/EEA/UK Users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process your data on the following bases: performance of a contract (providing course access and support after purchase); consent (marketing emails, non-essential cookies — you can withdraw consent at any time); legitimate interests (securing our services, preventing abuse, analyzing and improving our content, sending marketing to existing customers about similar products where permitted); and legal obligation (tax, accounting, and consumer-law record-keeping).
4. Who We Share Data With
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf under their own contractual and legal obligations:
- Thinkific (course hosting, accounts, checkout) — Canada
- Wix (website hosting and forms) — Israel/EU/US infrastructure
- MailerLite (email marketing and automation) — EU
- Payment processors (e.g., Stripe and/or PayPal, via Thinkific) — for payment processing and fraud prevention
- Analytics providers, where enabled, for aggregate site and email statistics
We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority; to enforce our Terms of Use; to protect the rights, safety, or property of Science in Motion, our students, or others; or in connection with a business transfer (merger, acquisition, or sale of assets), in which case this policy will continue to apply to your data.
5. International Transfers
We operate from Israel, and our service providers are located in various countries, including Canada, the United States, and the European Union. Israel benefits from a European Commission adequacy decision for data transfers from the EU. Where personal data is transferred to countries without an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses implemented by our service providers.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our websites use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functionality (login sessions, checkout), preferences, and — where you consent — analytics and marketing measurement. You can manage cookies through your browser settings and, where shown, through our cookie consent banner. Disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the Services (such as checkout or the course player) from working.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above:
- Account and course data: for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward to handle re-access requests and disputes;
- Purchase and invoicing records: for the period required by applicable tax and accounting law (typically 7 years);
- Email marketing data: until you unsubscribe or request deletion; unsubscribe records are retained to honor your opt-out;
- Support communications: up to 3 years after the last interaction, unless needed longer for legal claims.
When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; delete your data; restrict or object to certain processing; data portability; and withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing). EU/EEA/UK residents also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct; we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA.
To exercise any right, contact us using the details in Section 12. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We respond within the timeframes required by applicable law (generally within 30 days).
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email. You will continue to receive essential transactional emails related to your purchase and account.
9. Security
We rely on reputable, industry-standard platforms (Thinkific, Wix, MailerLite, and established payment processors) that implement technical and organizational security measures, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data and will notify you and relevant authorities of any data breach where required by law.
10. Automated Decision-Making
We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the current version. Material changes will be communicated by email or by notice on the Services. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
